" Abermad is set in private grounds on the outskirts of Llanfarian and Llanilar villages, south of but within easy access of Aberystwyth and all the amenities offered therein. Abermad was built in 1870 as a private mansion and is now a grade II listed building. The building was utilised for many years as a private school before being converted into a nursing home some 30+ years ago. Kim McKay has owned the business since 2005. Abermad is registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) to provide 24-hour Nursing care to a maximum of 27 people, male or female, over the age of 65. We care for people with a wide range of general healthcare needs and dependency levels. These needs may include physical problems resulting from chronic health conditions such as stroke, heart and lung disease, Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Client’s needs can change as they become frailer, we constantly monitor our clients in order to continually meet their changing needs. We care for people until the end of their life with support from the palliative care team, district nurses and the GP’s. Included in the registration for 27 is a small EMI (Elderly Mentally Infirm) Unit of 7 beds, in which we care for people with a diverse range of needs associated with mental health problems including all types of dementia. i.e. Alzheimer’s, short and long-term memory loss, confusion etc. we employ a Registered Mental Health Nurse for this purpose and are also supported by the community psychiatric team where necessary." https://findaplace.wales/care-homes/abermad-nursing-home-ltd/
