"The surface of the driveway and car park is tarmac
It's about 100 meters along a tarmac path, which does have a gradient, from the car park to the main visitor entrance. Or you can come along the gravel path that’s about three feet wide with a lesser gradientart of this route also includes a section of the towpath beside the canal
There are no steps from the car park to the main entrance
There’s a 'Drop Off Zone' 40m from the main entrance for less able-bodied people. The drop off zone is also accessible to large vehicles such as coaches
A large sign next to the canal directs visitors from the car park to the visitor centre."
Brief description
"Winner of experience of the year 2019 – The Anderton Boat Lift has earnt its nickname of Cathedral of the Canals for a very good reason. Not only does it still do the job it was designed to do of lifting boats and barges the 50 feet from the River Weaver Navigation to the Trent & Mersey Canal, but it does it with the most ingenious and endearing character of any structure on the canal system.
The mighty Anderton Boat Lift is one of the 'Seven Wonders of the Waterways' and together with its visitor centre, coffee shop, brand new Let's Play play area and nearby Northwich Woodlands, make a visit unmissable."
