Accessibility:

Axminster has good wheelchair access along most roads, with flat pavements in the central area of the town and no steep gradients. The nearest car park with disability blue badge spaces is on the corner of South Street and Lyme Street. The most convenient disability toilet is on the corner of West Street and Church Street.

Brief Description:

A market town on the river Axe famous for its carpet industry and carpet manufacturing legacy of Thomas Witty in the 18th century. The area offers many places of outstanding natural beauty from woodland walks to nearby coastal paths and beaches. The Axminster Heritage Centre Building on  Silver St, Axminster EX13 5AH, houses a museum, tourist information centre, and arrange of community facilities.  The museum and tourist information centre are open Monday-Friday 10am–4pm and Saturday 10am–1pm.

From the M5 travelling north from Exeter take the exit for the A30 to Honiton and the A35 to Axminster. From the north travelling from Taunton and the M5 take the A358 south into Axminster.
