Accessibility:
The zoo has taken steps to try and create an environment that is accessible to all, however due to some areas being set in woodland, not all areas are wheelchair friendly.
The safari wood train is not adapted for wheelchair users, but staff at the zoo are able to assist where possible to help board and disembark the train.
There is a lift in the giraffe house to access the first floor and a ramp to access the zarafa heights walkway.
There are designated parking spaces for blue badge holders in the car park.
Wheelchairs are available to hire for a £10 deposit, as well as a number of mobility scooters for a cost of £10 per day.
Assistance dogs are not permitted into the zoo itself but can be looked after in a secure environment during your visit. Call ahead in advance for further information 01953 887771 option 2.
A portable hearing loop is also available on request.
Accessible toilets can be found at the parrot pavilion restaurant, the Australian paddock, giraffe house and woodland road train station. All of which are marked on the zoo's map.
Brief Description:
Banham Zoo was opened in 1968 by Martin Goymar, and now has over 2,000 animals from all over the world ranging from birds, reptiles, mammals, fish, invertebrates and domestic livestock.
The zoo offers a fun day out for all, with pre bookable animal encounters, feeding experiences, craft activities, Safari wood train rides and much more.

Directions:
Situated 12.9 miles NE of Theptford via A1066, W Harling Road onto Garboldisham Road onto Banham Road. Then along Kenninghall Road, which will lead directly to the zoo which will be on your right hand side.

There are bus services that stop directly outside of the zoo. Easily accessed by car. Nearest train station is Harling Road station which is 5.9 miles from zoo.
