Accessibility

There is free car parking located a short walk from the entrance to Basingwerk Abbey via a tarmac ramp with handrails. Ground surface varies between gravel, grass, and tarmac. Access to the adjoining Greenfield Valley Heritage park is tarmac. There is an information centre and disability toilets and baby changing facilities available via the Heritage park entrance.  The Abbey ruins are enclosed in a walled area with gates at either end for public asses. There is a small Cafe with indoor and outdoor eating options on-site, accessible via a concrete ramp with handrails. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Brief description

Basingwerk Abbey is a Twelfth Century listed ruined Abbey near Holywell. Once part of the network of Welsh Cistercian settlements, the Abbey is still considered a significant religious site, historic monument, and place of pilgrimage. It adjoins Greenfield Valley Heritage park and information centre.

Basingwerk Abbey is approximately 4.5 miles west of Flint railway station and within 70 yards/metres of two bus stops. It is a mile south of the A548.
