Accessibility:

Many areas of Belfast zoo have been designed with accessibility in mind to provide flatter areas, so most enclosures can be seen by all. There are 12 designated parking spaces for blue badge holders. All toilets on site have wheelchair access, as well as baby changing facilities. The visitor centre is fitted with a hearing induction loop. Manual wheelchairs are available at the zoo. Please call ahead on 028 90776277 to reserve.

Assistance dogs are allowed at the zoo but owners must adhere to the regulations set out on the website.

Brief Description:

Belfast zoo was opened in 1934. It is set in 55 acres of land and is home to over 1,000 animals. There are 150 different species most of which are endangered or extinct in their wild habitats. The zoo holds daily educational talks and lists different feeding times for the animals. There are outdoor play areas and much more.

Directions:

Situated 13.3 miles SE of Antrim. Via Steeple Road, Bush Road. Taking third exit at first roundabout and fourth exit at second roundabout to join the M2. Continue on M2 until Newtownabbey, taking the exit for A6/A8 (M from the M2). At roundabout take 3rd exit onto Antrim Road/A6, heading for Belfast. Travel along Antrim Road for appox 1.7 miles and the zoo entrance will be clearly marked on your right hand side.
