Parking is limited in and around Blaengarw Working Men’s Hall, it is possible however to park on the residential streets and there are two open area parking bays, first just off the A4064/King Edwards St (OSS SS 901926) and then on Heol William Trigg (OSS SS 903929). Brief description

Originally built in 1893, and then opened in March of 1894, Blaengarw Working Men’s Hall initially stood as a place of meeting for the men who worked the coal mines of the area who built the hall with two pence each of their wages. They would meet to cultivate their hobbies, ambitions and learn additional skills outside of their work. Since then Blaengarw Working Men’s Hall is still host to many cultural events in the area and hosts among others regular classes for dancing, arts and crafts, bingo and social gatherings.

Directions

The nearest town to Blaengarw Working Men’s Hall is Bridgend (9.7 miles).

Starting at Nolton Street, Bridgend (OSS SS 906795), Turn Right after the zebra crossing onto Brackla Street, heading North-East. Continue straight on Brackla Street until you reach the set of lights at the top of the hill (OSS SS 908797), making sure to stay in the furthest Left Hand Lane. At the lights, Turn Left onto B4181/Tremains Road, heading North-West. Continue on B4181/Tremains Road until you reach the next set of lights, keeping in the Middle or Right Lane. At these set of lights (OSS SS 907800) you’ll see a Roundabout with traffic lights breaking off sections to ease traffic flow around it. On this Roundabout, Keep to the Middle or Right Hand Lane and Take the 1st Right, now heading North-East, following road markings for A4061/M4. Then head straight onto A4061/Rotary International Way.

Continuing on A4061/Rotary International Way, in 0.5 miles you will approach a roundabout. At the Roundabout, Take the 2nd Exit, still on A4061/Rotary International Way. Shortly afterwards you will arrive at another roundabout, where you should Take the 2nd Exit, again following the A4061/Rotary International Way, heading North.

After 0.2 miles you reach another Roundabout, where you should Take the 3rd Exit, now heading North on A4061/Litchard Hill. This begins a sequence of further roundabouts past Sarn Services. Shortly after joining A4061/Litchard Hill, at another Roundabout, Take the 3rd Exit. Then you will reach a set of Traffic lights before the next Roundabout at OSS SS 910826, staying in the Middle Lane. After the Lights, follow road markings to take the 3rd Right to stay on A4061 and to cross over the bridge. Once over the bridge, Take the 2nd Exit at the Roundabout, heading North on the A4061.

Continue on the A4061 for 0.7 miles until you reach the junction on A4061/Hong Kong Terrace at OSS SS 912840. At this junction, Turn Left onto the A4065. At the next Roundabout on the A4065, Take the 2nd Exit continuing straight on, and then Take the 2nd Exit on a further roundabout shortly after. Very Quickly after the last roundabout, prepare to Turn Right at OSS SS 909849 to join the A4064.

Continue then on the A4064 for 5.5 miles through Llangeinor, Pont-y-rhyl, Pantygog and Pontycymer. After Pontycymer and still on the A4064 you should then see signs for Blaengarw. Continue still following the A4064/Nanthir Road round and onto A4064/Katie Street at OSS SS 902929, then continue on A4064/Katie Street until you then reach the Blaengarw Working Men’s Hall on Blaengarw Road at OSS SS 902929.
