2025: "We welcome visitors of all abilities at Borde Hill and most paths in the formal Garden are step-free and accessible to those with restricted mobility. Gentle slopes, hard surfaces and gravel paths allow good wheelchair access and mobility maps are available from our Visitor Reception.
There are plenty of benches located around the Garden for relaxing and taking in the sights should you want to stop for a rest.
The Parkland and Woodland have naturally uneven terrain making them unsuitable for wheelchairs.
We have a limited number of standard and all-terrain wheelchairs available to borrow from Visitor Reception. If you’d like to reserve one ahead of your visit please ring 01444 450326. We do not have mobility scooters available for hire.
The car park surface is gravelled with designated spaces for blue badge holders located close to the Garden entrance. There is also a drop off point directly in front of the Visitor Reception building.
An accessible toilet can be found behind our main Garden entrance and Visitor Reception building which includes an emergency pull cord for use if you need assistance. This toilet also has baby changing facilities.
Assistance dogs on leads are welcome in the Garden, Parkland, Woodland and Adventure Playground.
We offer free admission to carers who are visiting with the person they care for. On arrival, simply show your carers card."
Brief description
2025: "The Garden is set within 383 acres of Grade II* heritage listed landscape in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with stunning views of the Ouse Valley Viaduct and across the High Weald. Steeped in history, the Elizabethan Mansion House is a beautiful backdrop to our formal 17-acre Garden, where you can lose yourself in the tranquillity of 13 outdoor ‘Garden rooms,’ each with a distinctive character and planting style.
Come and experience the joyous balance of nature and immerse yourself in the beauty of our Estate. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, from Woodland walks and family-friendly events throughout the season, to the children’s playground with an exhilarating zip-wire, and locally sourced delicious food and drink at our café."
