Accessibility

There is no parking available outside the Museum.

The inside of the building does have some steps to reach parts of the building.

Access to the Museum is via the Community Library next door.

Brief description

"Situated within a row of traditional cottages owned by the National Trust, Brighstone Village Museum in North Street is run by the Brighstone Museum Trust and provides a fascinating view of village life in the 19th century. Around a tableau representing a rural cottage scene are display cases and panels depicting local aspects of schooling, employment, coastal activities and the influence of the church during the Victorian era."

Directions

From East Cowes ferry, second exit at roundabout onto Well Road, A3021, A3054 to Newport, town centre, Pyle Street, B3323 to Shorwell, B3399 to Brighstone.

From Fishbourne ferry, B3339 (Fishbourne lane), A3054 to Newport, town centre, Pyle Street, B3323 to Shorwell, B3399 to Brighstone.

From Yarmouth ferry, A3054 to Totland, A3055. From the A3055, Military Road, along the south cost of the Island take the turning inland sign posted for Brighstone, on New Road. Follow this road all the way through the village until you reach a T junction, where turn left onto Main Road B3399.

In the Village the Museum is found on North Street which is a turning off B3399 with a thatched cottage on the corner.
