"Brighton Museum is located in the city centre within the Royal Pavilion Estate. It is on level ground, close to the Lanes and North Laine and only 5 minutes’ walk from the sea.

Visitors must pay an admission charge to enter Brighton Museum, although residents of Brighton & Hove are entitled to free entry with proof of address. Companions/carers accompanying a disabled visitor can enter free. Additional charges may apply for temporary exhibitions and events. See admission charges for more information.

All areas of the Museum are accessible for wheelchair users and for people with limited mobility. There is a passenger lift and accessible toilets.

Visitor Services Officers are positioned around the building should you require any assistance and are happy to answer any queries.

BSL interpreted group tours are available for the hard of hearing. All group tours must be booked in advance.

Access to Brighton Museum & Art Gallery is through the garden via level paths.

Public toilets are situated in the garden, including an accessible toilet.

Visitors using mobility scooters are asked to leave them in the foyer and transfer to one of our manual wheelchairs. If you do this, please bring along a companion to push the wheelchair or if you need a member of staff to assist you phone 03000 290900 or email info@rpmt.org.uk in advance to book someone to help.

Companions/carers accompanying a disabled visitor can enter free.

Disability Parking

Church Street, BN1 1UF which is near St. Giles Language School, has 4 disabled bays and there is no time limit for these bays. There is also an NCP Car Park with Disabled Bays which is located on the ground floor these are not free.

New Road, BN1 1UF has 3 bays and three hour limit.

Jubilee Street, BN1 1GE has a set of bays and three hour time limit.

In Brighton & Hove, providing the badge and time disc are displayed correctly, you can park in a disabled bay, a pay & display bay and a shared use bay but not in ‘resident permit only’ bays.

Additionally Blue Badge holders with a clock are allowed to park on yellow lines for up to 3 hours provided they are not causing an obstruction and there are no loading restrictions.

Visitors can be dropped off in Church Street near the William IV gate. The entrance to the Museum is slightly sloped but even, and the main entrance has double doors 1450cm wide which are power assisted operated by a button on the left wall.

Opening times: Monday-Fridays, 10am-4pm. Closed on weekends & Bank Holidays. (Opening times can sometimes vary so it’s best to ring ahead to check the centre will be open when you plan to visit.)

By foot:

Brighton Museum is situated in the heart of Brighton’s city centre cultural quarter, close to the Lanes and North Laine shopping areas and only five minutes walk from the sea. The entrance is in the Royal Pavilion Gardens.

Parking:

There are no on-site parking facilities in the Royal Pavilion grounds and parking around Brighton Museum and in the city is limited.

There is all day pay and display parking available along Madeira Drive (between Brighton Pier and the Marina) up to 20 minutes walk from Brighton Museum.

There are city centre car parks and NCP car parks close to Brighton Museum.

A Park and Ride service is available from Withdean Stadium in the north of the city. It is signposted from the A23 and enables you to park your car and catch a bus to Brighton Museum.

Coach parking

Coaches bringing visitors to Brighton Museum should drop passengers in Church Street and then park at Madeira Drive on the seafront."

"Free entry to the museum to Brighton & Hove residents living within postcodes BN1, BN2, BN3 or BN41 and students studying at Brighton or Sussex University can enjoy free admission to Brighton Museum all year round:

All Brighton & Hove residents and accompanying children are free. Proof of Brighton & Hove residency is required per adult eg driving licence, council tax / utility bill.

14-18 year olds visiting independently require proof of Brighton & Hove residency – eg bus pass, school uniform.

Students registered at either Brighton or Sussex University are also entitled to free admission even if they live outside of the city. A student card confirming current undergraduate or postgraduate study is required.

Carers accompanying disabled visitors also go free."

"From Brighton Rail Station: righton Museum is just a 15 minute walk.

From Pool Valley Coach Station:  Brighton Museum is just a five minute walk.

National Express coaches arrive here from London and major London airports.

By bus:

There are bus stops (for local buses) just outside Brighton Museum on Old Steine. All local buses travelling into the city stop in North Street, just a five minute walk away."
