Accessibility

There is a free visitors car park (20 spaces) to the rear of the museum, entrance is located on Church Lane.
There is level access to the Museum via the front entrance and also a ramped entrance from the car park. The ground floor has level access to all areas. There are 24 steps or a stair-lift to the first floor.
Wheelchair accessible toilet facilities on both floors.

Large print information is available upon request and touch tours are by appointment.

Brief description

Bruce Castle is a 16th century Grade 1 listed former manor house. It was originally known as Lordship House and sits in 20 acres of parkland.
It has been a museum since 1906 housing the London Borough of Haringey's local history collections and archives. It holds regular exhibitions, events and workshops for adults and children. To see what is on please see their website:

The red brick tower in the grounds was built in the 15th century. The tower is 21 feet high and extends deep under ground. It's wall are 3 feet thick. The original purpose of the tower is unknown, it is thought that it may have been used for Falconry, to raise young birds for hunting. For more information on the history of both buildings see:

Directions

Bruce Castle Museum is situated in North London in the London Borough of Haringey within the district of Tottenham. It is just off Lordship Lane (A109) where the A10 merges with it for about 150 yards (140 metres). The entrance is in Church Lane (no vehicle entry from Lordship Lane), access from the A10 is via All Hallows Road. OS TQ 333 906

Opening Times

Museum open: Wednesday to Sunday 1pm-5pm (closed Bank Holidays).
Archive Search room open: Wednesday 1pm-5pm, Thursday and Friday 9.30am-5pm; and alternate Saturdays 1pm-5pm (please book an appointment).

Nearest Underground Station: Seven Sisters (Victoria Line) From the station catch the number 243 bus to the top of Bruce Grove.

Nearest Mainline: Bruce Grove Station (Liverpool Street Line). About a 10 minute walk along Bruce Grove (A10) to the museum.

Bus routes: Buses 243,123 and 318 all stop near Bruce Castle Museum.
