Brief description
Buckingham Palace is the primary residence and the administrative headquarters of the Monarch of the United Kingdom. The palace's State Rooms are open to the public from July until October. Guided tours of the palace can be booked.
"The forecourt of Buckingham Palace is used for the Changing of the Guard, a major ceremony and tourist attraction (daily from April to July; every other day in other months).[74] "
"Adjacent to the palace is the Royal Mews, also designed by Nash, where the royal carriages, including the Gold State Coach, are housed. This rococo gilt coach, designed by Sir William Chambers in 1760, has painted panels by G. B. Cipriani. It was first used for the State Opening of Parliament by George III in 1762 and has been used by the monarch for every coronation since George IV. It was last used for the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II.[107] Also housed in the mews are the coach horses used at royal ceremonial processions.[108] " Please see https://www.rct.uk/visit/the-royal-mews-buckingham-palace
"The Queen's Gallery is the main public art gallery of Buckingham Palace, home of the British monarch, in London. It exhibits works of art from the Royal Collection (the bulk of which works have since its opening been regularly displayed, so held in trust for the nation, rather than kept privately) on a rotating basis. It has its own access façade and typically displays about 450 works, always including mainly paintings and drawings.
The gallery forms the most projecting, the south, wing of the Palace, its entrance/exit being to the road on that side, on the site of a chapel bombed during the Second World War. The gallery opened in 1962; in the next 37 years receiving 5 million visitors, until closure (1999 to 2002) for extension, commissioned from architect John Simpson. On 21 May 2002, the gallery was reopened by Elizabeth II to coincide with her Golden Jubilee. The extension made the Doric entrance portico and new rooms, more than tripling the size.[1] It is open to the public during the day for most of the year."
