Cae Hir began as a large farming estate in the 19th century which was split up over 200 years ago. The six-acre portion that the the gardens now lies on was a small holding until the 1980s when the current family took it on and, in 1989, opened the gardens to the public. The whole project being self-funded and created by hand.
