There are gravel paths that can prove a problem for some wheelchairs, and some of the woodland gardens and hilltop castle are only accessible by steep paths."

Brief description

https://www.castlehilldevon.co.uk/gardens

"Situated on the Southern edge of Exmoor and in the rolling hills of North Devon, these beautiful gardens showcase 50 acres of historic Parkland set against the breath-taking 18th Century Palladian Mansion House.  As you arrive at Castle Hill your eye will be drawn to the long ochre coloured house with the Castle on the hill behind.

There is always so much to see whatever the season that you will want to spend the day here. Young visitors can climb on one of the oldest trees in the garden – the Tanglewood Tree and explore the acres of garden and woodland. Four legged friends on leads are welcome too. In the spectacular 18th century landscape you will see statues, follies and temples built by the Fortescue family over the years."

"The house is surrounded by landscaped grounds containing many picturesque structures. The gardens are open to the public for much of the year. The house is not open to the public but occasional guided tours for small groups are arranged on application. The Grand Hall of the house and three other main rooms are however available for civil wedding ceremonies and marquee receptions are also provided. A conference room with a capacity for 100 people is available for hire."
