"Chapel Bay Fort was designed with ramped access throughout, originally for the movement of heavy ammunition into the magazines. Please note that some of the ramps have an uneven surface. We have only one flight of steps (14 steps) in the public areas, and a single step to access the museum casemates. The flight of steps has a sturdy handrail on one side and a plain wall on the other. Alternative ramped access is available.
The doorways inside the museum are 33.8″ (86cm) wide, and not suitable for mobility scooters. Mobility scooters may be used on the guided tour, but access to the Machine Gun Shed and Artillery Shed is limited.
Assistance Dogs
Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are welcome in all Museum buildings and on site. Dogs are welcome in the outside seating area of The Cookhouse where water is available, and on the guided tour of the outside areas.
Disabled Parking
There is specified disabled parking by the main entrance for those with very limited mobility, giving level access to the Fort. The main car park is 40m from the main entrance and has step free access to the main entrance.
Seating
Seats are available in many of the casemates. Please do not sit or lean on the exhibits or barriers.
WC
An accessible WC is situated by the outside seating area of The Cookhouse. We do not have a Changing Places WC. "
