Accessibility:

There are a number of car parks surrounding the centre laid to tarmac and grass. Designated parking is available directly outside the Heritage centre. A large external staircase takes you up to the Heritage centre. Please call ahead to discuss access in more detail. Kerb'd declining road heading down to the centre and coastline. The beach is mostly sand and pebble, with a large car park available. All parking may be paid for at the pay and display meters at the various sites. Some areas of the beach may not be accessible to those with limited mobility or wheelchairs due to sand and larger rocks.

Brief Description:

Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre provides information on fossils and local marine life, with hands on experience for both children and adults. Opened in 1985 it's aim was to encourage safe and sustainable collections of Jurassic fossils on the local beaches. Events are held with volunteers to enable visitors to go to the local beaches and find their own fossils.

Directions:

Situated 4.2 miles from Chideock . Head W on A35 (Main Street). After 3.1 miles turn left off of A35 sign posted Charmouth. Continue onto The St and after 0.5 miles turn left onto Lower Sea Lane. Coastal Centre is at the bottom of the road. OS SY 364930
