Accessibility:

Chessington Zoo and surrounding theme park is accessible to all, with concrete pathways, some however are on an incline. Accessible toilets are located throughout the park and marked on the map. Wheelchair hire is available at the first aid centre, although availability is not guaranteed. Staff at the zoo and theme park are on hand to assist where they can on your visit. There are allocated parking spaces for blue badge holders. Assistance dogs are permitted and can stay with their owner. Rides in the theme park are height restricted and some have restricted leg room.


Brief Description:

Chessington zoo was originally opened in 1931 but was temporarily closed in 1939 due to the impending war. It was sold to the Pearson group in 1978 and then re opened as Chessington World of Adventures. In 2008 a sea life centre was added to the park and it is now home to over 1,000 animals including Lions, Tigers, Gorillas, Monkeys, Penguins and sea Lions. The sea life centre also houses Sharks, Sea Horses, Jellyfish, Corals and much more. In 2014 a hotel resort was built in the grounds and a splash water play zone was also added. It is now one of England's biggest theme park resorts.

Ticket prices vary and the park offers different discounts throughout the year. Prices start at £27.60, and those registered with a disability can take someone to assist for free. Please see website for further information.


Directions:

Situated 3.6 miles from Surbiton. Follow A243/ Hook Road for 3.6 miles, the resort will be on your right hand side. Brown signs for Chessington are located on many roads and motorways which will guide you from most directions. OS TQ 174624.


Transport:

There are multiple car parks at Chessington and it is easily accessed by car. Buses also run directly to the park from surrounding towns.

Amenities:

Accessible toilets are available throughout the zoo and resort and located on the map. There are a number of places to eat throughout the park including Mc Donalds's, KFC, Burger King, and Pizza Hut. As well as snack shacks and ice cream venders and much more. A hotel is located on site for those wishing to stay.
