Accessibility:
Chester zoo is a fully accessible attraction with free disability parking, accessible pathways, free wheelchair and electric scooter hire, accessible toilets and changing facilities. There are also multi sensory experiences for anyone with a visual impairment. Some areas of the zoo have a steep gradient but assistance in these areas can be sought from staff. Assistance dogs are welcome.
Brief Description:
The zoo was opened in 1931 by George Mottershead. It is set in 500 acres of land and is ten times the size it was when it was first built. It is home to 20,000 animals, 500 different species, half of which are endangered. The zoo holds daily talks for a selection of animals and there are several play areas around the zoo.

Directions:
Situated 4.8 miles from Chester via A56/ Hoole Way. Follow A56 for 3.7 miles. At roundabout take first exit onto A41, continue for 1.9 miles. At roundabout take 2nd exit and first exit at next roundabout. Follow road to the zoo.

Transport:
Buses run in and around the area, many of which stop at the entrance of the zoo. Chester Station is situated 2 miles from the zoo with buses running to the zoo every 15 minutes.

There are fully accessible toilets situated throughout the zoo and baby changing facilities. There are a number of places to eat on site, serving hot and cold food as well as coffee shops, an ice cream parlour, outdoor BBQ and beer garden, food kiosks and gift shop.
