Disability Toilet and Baby Changing Facilities.  https://coam.org.uk/plan-your-visit/access/

"Disabled visitors have designated spaces close to the Museum entrance and we have accessible toilets.

Blue badge holders:

Concessionary rates are available for registered disabled visitors and if they require another person, as their companion or carer to enable them to access the museum, then they can come in for free.

Parking & Vehicles:

There are designated parking spaces for blue badge holders close to the Museum entrance.  The Museum operates a ‘no vehicles on site’ policy during opening hours.  However, electric mobility scooters are allowed, with a 5mph speed limit. The Museum has a golf buggy and our team of staff and volunteers are happy to provide lifts for less mobile visitors.

Wheelchairs & Electric Scooters:

The Museum has wheelchairs and 2 electric mobility scooters available to borrow. These are free of charge, however, a security deposit is required while the scooter is on loan. As numbers are limited these are available on a first come first served basis, please ring the Museum Office on 01494 871 117 to check availability and to pre-book (lines are open Monday – Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm). Visitors are welcome to use personal mobility scooters around the site. Due to the age and frailty of our historic buildings we ask that mobility scooters are not driven inside any of our exhibits.

The Museum has ramps into the prefab, Elliott and Sons Cafe, Henton mission room, WWI Nissen hut and Borehamwood dairy. Please be aware that our compact gravel paths are not ideal for wheelchairs and some paths can become very muddy in bad weather.  If possible, we would recommend booking a mobility scooter in advance instead. We regret that the Woodland Walk is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Loop Systems:  Small portable loop systems are installed at the Ticket Office and Cafe.

Access Guides:  A visitors’ folder with information about buildings that have limited access is available at the Ticket Office.

Assistance dogs:  Assistance dogs are welcome and, unlike other dogs, are allowed inside all the historic buildings.  All dogs must be kept on a short lead because of farm livestock.

Toilet Facilities:

The most modern and accessible facilities are the ‘Bakerloo’ mid site toilets on the Village Green (No.14a on the Museum map) there are two cubicles in the historic Caversham Public Conveniences (No.3 on the Museum map) have been adapted for wheelchair access."

Advice for Coach Drivers:

The Museum is in a rural setting, and approached down country lanes.  The lane to the museum from the Maple Cross direction is particularly narrow.  We recommend that coaches approach the Museum from Chalfont St Peter.  Turn off the A413 at the Waggon and Horses Pub, and then drive up Chesham Lane to join Gorelands Lane."

Baby Changing Facilities: Baby changing facilities are located at our Bakerloo midsite toilets and Haversham granary toilets. Our Haversham toilets have booster steps to help little ones reach the sinks.

Breastfeeding:

Mothers are welcome to breastfeed on site. If you would like a chair or a private space then please ask a member of our team. We know breastfeeding can be thirsty work so please let us know if we can grab you a glass of water. If you’ve ordered food and want to start breastfeeding while you wait, let our staff know and we’ll make sure that your food is brought over to you.

Eating:

Our cafe has high chairs and a children’s menu. There are also lots of picnic benches around the site should you want to bring your own lunch.

April 2021: *Due to Covid-19 restrictions our Village Kitchen is open selling take away hot drinks, ice creams and snacks but our cafe is closed.*

Buggies and Prams:

Buggies are welcome on site and there are ramps into most of our historic buildings. A few of our historic buildings are very small and will not accommodate a pram, but there is plenty of space to park them outside. Our paths are gravel and can get a little muddy in bad weather.

Space:

Our site is 45 acres, so there is lots of space to explore. Apart from our electric golf buggy, we operate a no vehicle on site policy as this keeps our visitors safe and helps parents relax. On the very rare occasion that a vehicle needs to be moved on site they will always be escorted by a member of our team on foot.

Quieter Times:

Our site is large so there are always lots of quiet spots. If you want to visit at a quieter time we recommend visiting on a non-event day or on a special event day arriving between 10am and 11am when it’s always quieter. The site is always quieter after 2.30pm. Some events can be loud and include gunfire. You can check the events section of our website for full details of each event.

Cost:

All admission, including our day-time events including such re-enactments and Terrific Tuesdays, are included in the standard admission charge. All activities on our Terrific Tuesdays are included in your entry fee. During day-time admission candle making and food and drink are the only additional extras that you can expect to pay for. On the rare occasion that a special event includes an activity at an additional cost this will always be stated on our events page. "
