Accessibility:

Parking : There are 6 designated disability parking bays for Blue Badge Holders. 

There is a shuttle bus that operates between the car park and castle.  It is fitted with a wheelchair lift.

Toilet facilities: Disability/Baby-changing facilities are located in the visitor centre and castle courtyard.

Limited access: wheelchair access to the ground floor of the East Wing rooms, Ground Floor of Adam Tower, Servant's Hall and Tea Room. NB. No wheelchair access to the main State Rooms

Wheelchairs are available for use at the venue.

Hearing induction Loop operates within the reception area.

Assistance dogs are permitted

Entrance to the Reception Area is via a ramp.

Home Farm attraction is approached by cobble and uneven pathways and is unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Brief description:

Chirk Castle was built in the early 1300’s by Edward I to subdue the last Welsh prince, Llywelyn ap Gruffydd.  The castle’s 700 year history is reflected in its architecture and includes the State Rooms, Long Gallery, saloon, servant’s halls, library.  The estate is complimented with over 5 acres of landscape gardens.  The castle is still occupied by the descendants of Sir Thomas Myddleton (1550 - 1631).

Directions:

Chirk Castle is approximately 7 miles from Wrexham and 5 miles from Llangollen.  The entrance for Chirk Castle and estate is roughly 2 miles west of Chirk village and is well sign posted.

Open daily 10.00 - 4.00
