Brief description

Cholmondeley Castle was built in 1801 by the 4th Earl of Cholmondeley on the site of his family’s previous Tudor Hall and earlier residences of the Cholmondeley Family dating back to Norman times. The Castle was originally built in the style of a ‘Gothic Villa ’;  its distinctive towers and turrets were added later in 1828.

Whilst the Castle itself remains a private family residence, its 70 acres of parklands and gardens are usually open annually to the public from April -October inclusive on Wednesday, Thursdays, Sundays and on Bank Holidays.
