Brief description

"The parish was founded by Cardinal Manning in 1892. During its early days, masses were said at a temporary chapel at 187-189 Devon’s road; however, on 26 July 1893, Cardinal Vaughan blessed a foundation stone for the chapel at Bow common. On completion of the construction of the church in 1894, a consecration soon took place on the 30th of July.  Just 50 years later, the church building was burnt down by the Second World War bombings in London and this left only its walls standing.  What exists today of the Parish structurally is a restoration the bombings aftermath. In the 1970s and the 1980s, the Franciscans cared for the Parish community but today the church is home to a Vietnamese chaplaincy and a local English community."
