Accessible disability toilet.  Disability Parking

2026: "The majority of the interior of the mansion is accessible. Electric mobility scooters are not allowed inside but we have a wheelchair that visitors may borrow. There are chairs throughout the tour should they be needed. A small part of the tour is up a spiral staircase, visitors may not wish to take this route.

The main parts of the garden are accessible and an electric mobility scooter may be hired. This must be booked in advance. A part of the garden is down a staircase to the Low Garden beside the river.

There is a disabled toilet in both the gentleman and lady’s loos.

Those who are disabled or less able to walk are encouraged to drive through to the courtyard instead of parking in the car park so as to be close to the entrance. There is disabled parking. "

Brief description

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalemain

https://www.dalemain.com/

"Mansion open to the public with award winning garden, tearoom and shop. Visitors can discover and enjoy four centuries of House Architecture, five acres of celebrated gardens, historic parkland and home-made food served in the Medieval Hall Tearoom."

2026: "Home to the Hasell family since 1679, visitors to Dalemain will discover a fascinating combination of history, architecture and family which is both a Cumbrian and a national story. Dalemain is part of the Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site. It sits with glorious views to the High Fells amid open parkland, encapsulating the best of the Lake District, and should be the fist stop as you explore Cumbria.

As well as the historic mansion with its impressive mixture of medieval to Georgian architecture, the RHS Partner Garden is award winning with a rich collection of plants including the blue poppies Mecanopsis grandis Dalemain and over 200 old fashioned roses. The architecture of the buildings and trees provide a beautiful complexity to the garden with views out and through. You will also find magic with a topiary box dragon, earth giant or the animal garden with plants such as hedgehog holly.

Dalemain is also famous for the Dalemain World Marmalade Awards and Festival: a worldwide annual competition and festival. Thousands of entries arrive each year and here you will find the best marmalade in the world.

You will find the shop and tearoom for delicious selection of hot and cold home-made food, freshly baked scones, ginger cake and refreshing drinks. Dogs are welcome here. You can buy a range of souvenirs, marmalade and plants grown in the garden."
