There is plenty of parking on the roads surrounding the church. There is level access into the church and level and ramped access within the church. There are toilets including wheelchair accessible and baby changing facilities. Large print books are available as well as a hearing induction loop. The church is Autism and Asperger aware/accessible, and assistance dogs are welcome.


Brief Description:

St Mary The Virgin Church was built in the 13th Century with the 120 foot spire being built in the 15th Century. It contains 12th Century Norman font, a 14th Century Cadaver tomb. It also has a Jacobean pulpit and 15th Century carved wooden pews. It also has the oldest misericord in the country dating from 1200.

Directions:

From Selby via A19 and Hull Road/A63 (5.1m). Head east on The Crescent/A19 towards Thornden Buildings and continue to follow the A19 for 1.3 miles. At the roundabout take the 1st exit and stay on the A19. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Hull Road/A63. Turn right onto Main Street.


From Goole via A63 (7.8m). Take A614 and Boothferry Road/B1228 to Barnhill Lane A63. Continue onto Barnhill Lane/A63 for 4.1 miles. Continue on School Road. Drive to Main Street.
