Accessibility:
There is an on-site pay and display car park which also has one designated blue badge holder parking space. The tea rooms are situated in the car park, they are fully wheelchair accessible, with access via the conservatory, and include wheelchair accessible toilets and baby changing facilities. Dove cottage is only wheelchair-accessible on the ground floor, it has some uneven floors due to the age of the building. Motorised wheelchairs may find it difficult to enter the cottage because the narrowest doorway is only 78cm wide. Pushchairs are not allowed in Dove Cottage. The museum next door is fully wheelchair-accessible and they offer virtual computer tours of Dove Cottage for wheelchair users who wish to view the upstairs. There are public toilets including wheelchair- accessible and baby-changing facilities in the museum. There is a wheelchair available to borrow at the museum. A hearing induction loop system is available in the shop and they offer a large print visual guide book for the visually impaired.
Brief Description:
Nestled in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Dove Cottage was the home of Poet William Wordsworth from 1799 until 1808. It had formerly been a public house call The Dove & Olive Bough and is a Grade I Listed Building. It is unchanged from when Wordsworth and his sister lived there and still contains some of their belongings. Next door is the Wordsworth Museum dedicated to the life and ideas of Wordsworth.

Directions:
From Penrith via A66 and A591. Head south-east on Little Dockray towards Corn Market/A592. Turn right onto Corn Market/A592. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Ullswater Road/A592. Go through 1 roundabout. At Skirsgill Interchange take the 3rd exit onto A66. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit and stay on A66. Turn left onto Station Road/B5322 and continue to follow for 4.1 miles. Turn left onto A591 and follow for 7.7 miles. At the roundabout take the 1st exit and stay on A591. Turn left and your destination will be on the left.
From Windermere via A591. Head north on Elleray Road/A5074 towards Church Street/A591. Turn left onto A591 and continue to follow for 4.4 miles. Slight left onto Wansfell Road/A591. Turn left onto Compston Road/A591/A591 and follow for 3.7 miles. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit and stay on A591. Turn left and your destination will be on the left.
