Accessibility:

The closest car park is Marketgate. There are 2 blue badge parking bays available behind the Museum on New Street Square, a further 4 on New Street and 13 on Church Street. The Museum is in a pedestrian area so no driving is permitted between the hours of 10am and 5pm unless you are a blue badge holder. Access to the museum is via steps or a ramp which is to the right of the building. There are chair lifts providing access to the first floor and mezzanine floor. There are no public toilets in the Museum, the closest toilets are within the Marketgate shopping centre approximately 2 minutes walk away. The toilets include disability toilets. A hearing induction loop system is installed in the museum and assistance dogs are welcome.


Brief Description:

Housed in the former Town Hall, the City Museum shows the history and archaeology of Lancaster through the ages. It also includes the King’s Own Royal Regiment Museum.

From Morecambe via A589 and A6 (5.2 miles). Follow A589 and A6 south-eastbound to Church Street in Lancaster. Drive to Sun Street.


From Blackpool via M55 and M6 (33.4 miles). Follow M55 eastbound and then M6 northbound to exit 33. Follow A6 to Sun Street in Lancaster.
