The closest car park is Nunnery Lane approximately five minutes walk away. Micklegate bar is not accessible to wheelchair users. There are no public toilets available at Micklegate. The nearest public toilets are at Nunnery Lane car park which include wheelchair accessible and baby changing facilities. Wheelchair accessible toilets can be accessed via a RADAR key.
Brief Description:
Micklegate bar is one of 4 medieval gateways into the city of York. It is the royal gateway to the city and has had royals passing through since it was first built in the 12th Century. It was the residence of different families until 1918 and reopened as a museum in 2010. In the museum you can find out the history of York in the 15th and 16th Century during the reign of Henry VII and also how York was affected by the English Civil War.

From Knaresborough via A59. Get onto High Street/A59 towards York. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto York Road/A59. At the roundabout take the 1st exit and stay on A59. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on A59 and continue for 10.1 miles. At the roundabout continue straight on to stay on A59. Turn left onto Blossom Street/A1036. Continue straight onto Micklegate.
