Accessibility:

There is a car park on Lumb Carr Road, and also at the Shoulder of Mutton public house. There is a moderate walk up a hill to the tower, so this may prove difficult for people with mobility issues. Inside the tower is not wheelchair-accessible due to the number of stairs up the tower.

A 128ft tower erected in 1852 to commemorate the life of Sir Robert Peel.

Opening Hours:

Open on occasional Sundays through the year, please call the Bury Tourist Information Centre on 0161 253 5111 for opening information. If the flag is flying on the tower it is open.

Travelling from Bolton via A676 (8.6 miles). Take A579 and A676 north-eastbound to Lumb Carr Road. Take Cross Lane to your destination.


From Rochdale via A680 (11 miles). Take A58, A680 and A676 north-westbound to Lumb Carr Road. Take Cross Lane to your destination.
