Accessibility:

There are 4 designated disability parking bays in the main car park near to the café. The café, with flat wheelchair access, has a disability access toilet with grab rails and alarm cord, BUT please see details below about refurbishment works at the venue in 2018. The site has a long circular route across flat ground but the paths leading down into the 'Punch Bowl' from the car park are along steep slopes. Key viewpoints have benches.  

Brief Description:

A well-known beauty spot, with a parking area adjacent to its Café. Our photographs also show the construction of the tunnel and bypass, now completed, of the A3 trunk road.

Opening Hours:

Dawn until dusk. Beginning at the end of November 2017, the National Trust is embarking on a programme of works to refresh and enlarge its toilet block, redecorate the café and build a purpose-built catering and visitor information kiosk, and for the duration of the building works, there are new temporary public toilets including a disability accessible toilet as well as baby-changing facilities. Please consult the venue's website to get an update on the progress of the programme of works.

Directions:

From Guildford on the A3 ‘Portsmouth Road’ continue south through the ‘Hindhead Tunnel’ and take the exit on the double roundabout for the A333; this is the same exit if you are travelling northwards on the A3. Follow the road north crossing over the double roundabout of the A287 and onto the ‘London Road’ east. Towards the end of the road the entrance will be visible on the north side of the road.

The Devil’s Punchbowl Café serves hot and cold meals and refreshments, but please note that beginning at the end of November 2017, the National Trust is embarking on a programme of works to refresh and enlarge its toilet block, redecorate the café and build a purpose-built catering and visitor information kiosk, and for the duration of the building works, there are new temporary public toilets including a disability accessible toilet as well as baby-changing facilities.. Food is still available on site on occasions when the Café is closed, but visitors are advised to telephone ahead to check opening times. The current situation is described as follows "The Devil's Punch Bowl café will be closed from 11 January until 12 February 2018 inclusive.Hot drinks and snacks will be available from a catering outlet on site and temporary public toilets with disabled access and baby changing facilities are in place.
