Brief Description:

Douglas Station provides guests with a steam train journey along a railway that is over a century old. Originally opened in 1874 the railway still carries its original carriages and locomotives. The red brick station was built in between 1887 and 1913 and is undergoing extensive refurbishment work.

Journeys travel South from Douglas, through the stunning countryside of the island to Port Erin via Castletown with a number of stops along the way, the full journey takes one hour. Prices start at £5.20 for a return trip. Sightseers are able to purchase a 'Go Explore card' which allows them to use both the rail and bus services on the island over 1, 3, 5 or 7 consecutive days, this allows them to stop and explore each sight and rejoin a later journey should they wish. Scheduled services run from March to November. In 2016 the steam railway carried over 100,000 passengers.
