Accessibility:

Some area's at the zoo have steep paths and there are some steps in places. A land train is available to assist with access to the top of the site. Call ahead on 01384 215313 to check availability. All toilets are accessible to all. Disability parking is available, as well as drop off points for ease of access. Assistance dogs are welcome, except for within animal contact areas. Manual wheelchairs and electric scooters are available to hire. Call ahead on 01384 215313 to reserve.


Brief Description:

Dudley zoo was opened in 1937 by the third earl of Dudley. With successful conservation and breeding programmes, the zoo has contributed to saving some of the worlds most endangered species including the Humboldt Penguin, Asiatic Lion and the Sumatran Tiger. Dudley castle is set within the grounds of the zoo, popular with visiting historians and ghost hunters. It is reputed to be haunted by the ghost of the grey lady.

Open daily from 10am except from Christmas day. Last admission 3pm during winter months.


Directions:

Situated 6.7 miles South of Wolverhampton via the A4150 and taking 3rd exit at the round about to continue on the A4150. A little further along, bear left onto Birmingham Road, and continue along this road for approximately 4.1 miles, where you will then turn right onto Priory Road. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto The Broadway and continue along this road and the Zoological Gardens will be on your left hand side.

There are two main restaurants at the zoo serving hot and cold food, as well as kiosks serving pasta, hot dog’s, jacket potatoes, ice cream and cold drinks. All toilets are fully accessible to all. There are a number of hotels within a short distance of the zoo for anyone wishing to stay in the area including The Village Hotel, The Premier Inn, The Quality Hotel and The Copthorne Hotel.
