Amenities

"The Museum has a new extension which is well-equipped for visitors. There is a foyer with reception desk where stewards will welcome you and provide help with enquiries.

In the foyer, there are toilets, including one for disabled people and a baby-changing facility. A lift will take you upstairs to each floor, or you can take the lighthouse spiral stairs.

To give you extra information about the Museum, there is a guide to purchase.

We have audio guides to listen to on your tour, these are especially useful for people with partial or little sight.

There are two main galleries holding our collections.

We are a family-friendly Museum so there are quizzes and colouring sheets for children, as well as things to explore and touch in the galleries.

We have a small gift shop in the museum. It is on the ground floor in the foyer of the museum where admission is not charged, so feel free to pop in and peruse our lovely stock.

A coffee and tea dispenser is available for visitors to purchase a drink and biscuits.

On the top floor, there is access to the roof terrace with seating and tables and a grand view over the valley and hills above the town.

School and student groups:

Telling the stories and keeping the memories of Teignmouth and Shaldon alive

The Teign Heritage Centre offers educational activity to groups of all ages. We are open for group bookings throughout the year.

The museum is a great place to explore the social history of the town and our practical workshops provide an opportunity to bring that history alive."
