Accessibility

Visitor parking on site through the main entrance is free but is limited, as the large car park out the front of the site is for employees only. Wheelchair access via the main entrance to the plant. Toilets and disability toilets are available. Contact the venue directly for further information. 

Brief description

Bridgend Ford Motors Engine Plant was built in 1977 and employs close to 1,700 workers who specialise in producing high-efficiency petrol engines for such models as the Ford Focus, Kuga, Mondeo, S-MAX, Galaxy and Fiesta ST. The Ford Factory is partnered with Jaguar to create similar engines for their range of eco-efficient vehicles and at one point helped develop engines for Volvo and Land Rover respectively until 2015.

Directions

Bridgend Ford Motors Engine Plant is 2.8 Miles from the closest town (Bridgend) heading South-East via the A473 and then crossing the roundabout on Cowbridge Road, 2nd Exit onto the A48.

Then take the 2nd Left on the A48 which will take you past the Bridgend Ford Dealership on your right hand side. You should then cross a roundabout, 1st Exit heading North-East and then continue on this road to a second roundabout, taking the 2nd Exit so that you then arrive on the road parallel to the plant where you finally follow signs to take the next right into the Visitor’s Car Park at OS SO 93174 

Opening Times

Mon – Fri: 9am – 7pm , employee’s work a shift pattern and so opening hours can change daily and/or seasonally according to their workload.

Transport

There is the X2 Cymru Clipper service from Bridgend to Cardiff that stops at Waterton Bus Stop (OS SO 91913) which is then an approx. 24 minute (1.2 mile) walk on a slim pavement, grass and uneven ground to Bridgend Ford Motors Engine Plant.

The Engine Plant does not have eating establishments or bank services.
