"In 2016, the new museum building opened to the public.[clarification needed] It houses many of the aircraft formerly kept outdoors.[7] A shop, refreshment area, flight simulator and information on the history of Gatwick Airport can also be found in the building."
"Uncover the aircraft from Post war to Cold war
This Aviation Museum has a unique collection of British aircraft from the “golden age” of British aircraft manufacture. From the end of WWII until the 1970’s British aircraft designers produced some of the most innovative and advanced aircraft of the day. From post war to cold war, this museum clearly shows that timeline in aviation terms.
In this collection there are examples from the major manufacturers of this period.
Among the list are classic names such as Avro, Hawker, Gloster, De Havilland, English Electric, Blackburn and Percival. Our tour guides are regularly on hand to guide our visitors around the Museum and inside some of our beloved aircraft that we have on display.
The Charity has ambitious growth plans, with several redevelopments of our site already underway. Over the course of the next 5 years, the Gatwick Aviation Museum will be working towards the completion and development of several commercial projects. Our aim is to enrich the visitor experience, to provide the local community with a place where families can feel inspired together and to make lasting memories.
We are in the early stages of developing a brand new 'all weather' outdoor exhibit. This exhibit will include a range of information about aviation history, and significant moments in aviation."
