Brief description

https://www.grangegardensmanorbier.com/our-story

A level garden of 5 acres created from scratch in 2017, with numerous clumps of colourful herbaceous borders, rose beds, and several small ponds, and also a large sized chess set sculpture beside the house. Of particular interest is "The ‘New’ Field Garden: We call this the ‘accidental garden’; it’s a series of beds sporting different grasses and many other exciting features.

Each bed was an experiment of what we can grow and will flourish in the heavy boggy clay soil. Sometimes we succeeded and sometimes we failed, but we were never stopped by our failures. we just try again, with the optimism that all amateur gardeners have. We are delighted that the lake has been visited by moorhens and wild ducks, who come back to nest every year."

"Beginnings: In 2017, work began in earnest, with the ground being cleared and plans drawn up. With the challenges of waterlogged ground, hard clay, and existing vegetation to be overcome, these plans had to be constantly redrawn, adapted, and revised.

2. Growing the Garden: With the outline of the gardens established, planting could begin. A majority of the plants you’ll see have been grown from seed or propagated in our greenhouses and grow tunnels.

3. Full Bloom: After 3 full growing seasons, almost all of the beds have now matured, with full coverage and vibrant colours.

4. Going Forward: We never stand still at the Grange, and have a number of jobs to do:

Our 1st job is to rebuild the rose pagoda which decided to give up the ghost early 2021 as a result of the battering storms straight from the Atlantic

Then onto our 2nd job and 3rd job and 4th jobs…etc! All needing immediate attention - but guess what, ‘work stress’ is not in our vocabulary, so all jobs get done as long as we keep smiling.
