Brief description

"Located in the market town of Great Dunmow, Essex, The Great Dunmow Maltings is a unique example of a classic restoration project which successfully combines its internationally recognised status as a popular, historic visitor attraction with dynamic community involvement as a thriving venue for private hire events, business meetings, conferences and civil wedding ceremonies - as well as being home to The Great Dunmow Town Museum.

This exceptional building is also home to The Great Dunmow Town Museum which features many artefacts and displays illustrating the social life and history of the town - including the Flitch Chair still use today in the famous Dunmow Flitch Trials which take place every leap year.

Other examples of many fascinating items on display include the 1850 Great Dunmow Fire Engine and the Fordham Lantern Clock built in the town by John Fordham in 1710."

"The restored Great Dunmow Maltings is now a popular venue for private hire events as well as business meetings, conferences and educational courses.

Facilities on the first floor include The Barley Room which features the original timber frame structure of the building. This room provides some 85sq.m. of unrestricted floorspace and is readily adaptable to either a formal meeting layout seating up to 60 delegates - or to a working group format based on tables of eight.

The Resource Room makes an ideal venue for smaller committee meetings with seating capacity for up to 15 people plus two supplementary work stations."
