Brief description

2025: "Haverhill has a long history; it is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and there have been archaeological finds in the area dating from the Stone and Bronze ages.
The town prospered during Victorian times with steam powered looms at the Gurteen factory and the coming of the railway. Haverhill expanded again in the 1960s as a London overspill town and in recent years with the growth of high technology industries.
Based in the Town Hall Arts Centre, the Haverhill Local History Museum brings together and shares the history of the area through displays and in its collection of over 7000 photographs depicting local life since the 1860s.
