Details
Accessibility:
The whole complex is on flat, level terrain, with wide, tarmac paths to both churches. There is a wheelchair ramp at the south entrance of the tower (which has two external steps) to the new church. The interiors of both have low levels of lighting if the electric lights are not switched on. Free parking is available on the adjacent roadside.
An Access Project appeal has been launched, which will include new accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities, a new ramp at the eastern entrance (which has two external steps) to the new church, resurfacing of the access road, a new roadway forecourt and a disability parking area, a loop induction system and safe paths and ramps where needed.
Brief Description:
This is an unusual complex of buildings, with two churches in one churchyard. The old, flint-clad 15th century church has monuments, brasses, a west gallery and a Tudor porch. The new, wooden-framed church of 1939-41, was built at right-angles, and immediately west of the old church to cater for the increase in population in the area due to new local industry. Both churches are still in use, with extensive community activities.
