Directions

"We are just 20 miles from Cardiff, Wales’ capital city and under 10 miles from the city of Newport. The nearest town is Pontypool.

If you are coming from England – great news, both Severn Crossings are now toll free!

If you are using a satnav, please use NP4 0SY.

However, note that the best route to the lake is via the village of New Inn and Sluvad Road. If approaching from the south, please do not exit the A4042 at the Croesyceiliog (Crematorium) Roundabout but continue on to the Craig-y-Felin (New Inn) Roundabout and turn right onto Newport Road and follow the signage thereafter on to Sluvad Road. Ensure you continue over the hill and past the water treatment works and our beautiful destination will appear before you.

On Sluvad Road, the satnav may encourage you to turn off the road. Disregard satnav and continue straight on until you see the reservoir and then follow the road across the dam and on to the site car park. We have ample parking available on site. The main visitor or top car park is a short walk away from the Visitor Centre down an accessible path. Disabled parking is available just outside the Visitor Centre.

Opening hours: March – October: 9:00am – 5:30pm. November – February 9:00am – 4:00pm.

The North Car Park is open 1st March to 31st October 9am to 5pm (closed November to end February). Please ensure vehicles are removed from the car parks by the advertised times as gates are locked overnight. The cost is £3.00 per day. The first hour is free." "Dogs are welcome in the Grab & Go coffee shop and on the upstairs café balcony. We love four legged friends but please always keep them on a lead to help protect neighbouring farm animals and ground nesting birds. Please pick up your dog waste as it contains diseases that can make animals and people sick and can pollute the drinking water supply. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the water nor allowed in any craft on the water."
