May 2026: "We’re counting down – the new London Museum will open towards the end of 2026, breathing new life into two historic buildings in the City of London. It'll open early and close late, reflecting London’s reputation as a 24-hour global city.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reconceive what a museum for London can be. Follow our journey and maybe even help shape it...

The new London Museum sits in atmospheric historic market buildings in Smithfield, grounded in the working and trading history of the City of London. Our design approach pays careful attention to the balance between the red brick and stone of the General Market and the modern concrete, glass and copper aesthetic of the Poultry Market."
