Accessibility

"In spite of the challenges presented by our historic building, we strive to make the cottage and our facilities as accessible as possible with the help of our Heritage Lottery Funding. We have an inclusive wheelchair accessible toilet on site with baby changing facilities and an emergency pull cord, as well as sanitiser stations throughout, and our staff are on hand at all times.

You may also wish to explore our Digital Cottage- Opens in a new window when planning your visit. This 360 degree Matterport tour is also available in our visitor centre, allowing those who are unable to or uncomfortable with climbing the ladders in the cottage to view the upper rooms.

Find full details about the site in our accessibility guide download below, and please contact us if you have any queries."

Brief description

https://www.mrssmithscottage.com/

"Mrs Smith was born Hilda Craven on the 28th of October 1892. Raised by her adoptive mother Mary Barrand, she went on to live a self-sufficient life through the enormous changes of the 20th Century. There is much to learn from the daily diaries she kept from 1948 to 1994, evidencing her principled existence and community spirit."

"Mrs Smith's Cottage is a precious time capsule of rural life in Navenby, Lincolnshire. Mrs Smith’s presence is felt in every authentic object, as if she has just stepped out for a moment. This is the story of one woman, in one home, through one century."
