"The museum building and lift is wheelchair-accessible. If your wheelchair or mobility device is 75 cm or wider, access to certain areas of the Grade II listed building may be limited. Please contact us if you have a larger device and we can help you plan your visit.
Toilets and Baby Changing Facilities: Accessible toilets are available on every floor of the museum. Baby changing facilities are available in the ground floor toilet.
Induction Loops: There is a fixed induction loop situated in the Learning Room.
Disabled Parking: Parking permits obtained from the reception along with your orange/blue badge provide access to two disabled bays in the museum car park, located off Taw Vale (EX32 8LN).
Assistance dogs are welcomed at the museum. We ask visitors to remain responsible for their dogs at all times during their visit. Please ask at reception if you require a drinking bowl."
Brief description
"The Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon tells the stories of the people and landscapes of North Devon. Our collections include everything from our most ancient rocks to brand new artworks. Our permanent galleries include North Devon in the 20th century, North Devon Art Pottery, the Royal Devon Yeomanry collection and Shapland and Petter furniture. Our programme includes temporary exhibitions, talks and events and the 'Curious Creators' family programme. We are open Monday to Saturday all year round, and free to all."

"The Museum is situated at the end of the historic Long Bridge in Barnstaple. The sole building on the square the museum is well situated for easy access by car, bicycle and public transport.Several bike racks are located outside the museum and opposite in the surrounding square.
The nearest large car parks are Belle Meadow, Seven Brethen and Green Lanes Car Park. Further information can be found at North Devon Council.
Orange and Blue Badge Holders may use two disabled parking bays situated outside the museum. NCP and North Devon Council car parks provide a range of disabled bays around the town centre.
Accessible via the M5, A361, A39 and A377, follow signs for Barnstaple and look for the brown tourist signs towards the town centre and railway station."

"Train: Barnstaple train station it is a 10 minute walk to the museum. Arriving at the station follow Station Road with Tesco and Costa Coffee on your right. Once at the roundabout turn right keeping Halfords on your right. Cross at the traffic lights to walk over the bridge. The museum is the prominent building on your right as you approach the end of the bridge.
Coach and Bus:
Barnstaple Bus Station is on Silver Street, a 3 minute walk to the museum. Leaving the station on Belle Meadow Road, continue past the traffic lights and cross the road onto the square where the museum is situated.
