Brief Description:
In 1130 Neath Abbey was originally a daughter house of Savigny. The abbey was then absorbed into the Cistercian order in 1147. Following the Dissolution of the monasteries, Sir Richard Williams (alias Cromwell) bought the site and converted parts of it into a Tudor mansion. Today, fairly complete remains of the abbey survive, together with the sixteenth century mansion.
