Brief description
"Nene Park Trust is the charity responsible for the 700ha Nene Park which comprises a mix of parks including Ferry Meadows, Orton Mere and Thorpe Meadows, together with wilder and more rural places such as Woodston Reach and Thorpe Wood. It also includes the lesser known ‘rural or Roman’ estate of agricultural land, extending west from Ferry Meadows to the A1 at Wansford."

River cruisers can enter Ferry Meadows from the River Nene into Overton Lake where there are free overnight (24 hour) moorings (sorry, no pumping out facilities available). For information on the River Nene and navigation please visit the website

By bike: Ferry Meadows is well connected to both the city and the wider Nene Park via traffic-free cycle routes, including National Cycle Route number 63. Maps are available from the Ferry Meadows Visitor Centre.
On foot: Ferry Meadows is linked to the city centre, the surrounding area and other areas of Nene Park via a network of footpaths. Maps are available from the Ferry Meadows Visitor Centre."

"There are bus stops within walking distance of Ferry Meadows on Oundle Road and on Wistow Way in Orton Wistow. Both are a 15 to 20-minute walk from the Visitor Information Centre and Gift Shop. The Nene Valley Railway is one of the best known standard gauge steam preservation railways in the country and home to that very special engine, Thomas.
