Accessibility

Recommended travel across the islands is by car and ferry, though there are numerous opportunities for walking, cycling and taking a local bus. 

There is one main road running across all the islands, which is in good repair.

Access to the Outer Hebrides is by car/foot ferry (Ferry operator: Caledonian MacBrayne) from a number of Scottish Ports: Oban, Ullapool, Mallaig to the main islands of Barra, Uist, Harris & Lewis. Use car/foot ferries to travel from island to island

Alternatively travel by plane with Loganair from Manchester, Inverness or Glasgow to Barra, Benbecula or Stornaway
