Accessibility:

Parking - Accessible parking is located next to the Hall accessed via Lister's Road.

Please note: Due to the age of the building many areas are unsuitable for wheelchair users please refer to the venue's website for up-to-date Accessibility Advise.

Shibden Hall - Access is limited to the ground floor of the Hall for wheelchair users. It is advisable to ring the bell (located on the right of the courtyard) and a member of staff will come and meet and assist you.

The Barn - Uneven cobbled floor, care should be taken.  

Folk Museum - No access available for wheelchair users.

Accessible Toilet - Located next to the accessible parking area.

Brief description:

Shibden Hall dates back to 1420 and offers visitors a fascinating journey through the lives of the people who lived and worked here, including the noted diarist Anne Lister (1791 - 1840).

Directions:

Follow the brown signs to the Hall from the A58. Parking is available in the Park off the A58, follow the signs to Shibden Park. From here there is an up-hill walk to Shibden Hall. See Parking facilities.

Opening Times:

Shibden Hall is currently closed and will re-open from Monday the 2nd March 2020.

The Hall to be closed for filming for a number of weeks during June/July and September/November 2020. If planning ahead then aim for March to May or August when it expects to be open. See its website and social media for further details nearer the time. 

The Hall is open between March and October.  Please check venue's website for up-to-date opening times.

The venue offers an annual ticket for purchase.

Transport:

Shibden Hall is an approximate 20 minute walk (uphill) from Halifax bus station and 25 minutes from Halifax train station. 

There are frequent buses; bus timetables are available on West Yorkshire METRO.

Amenities:

A selection of snacks and hot and cold drinks are available to purchase from the reception desk in the Hall. Otherwise, Mereside cafe down the hill by the lake serves meals, snacks and drinks. The cafe is managed by a separate organisation to Shibden Hall, please contact them direct with any enquiries.
