Accessibility:


Peel West Quay can be accessed by car. There are 3 free parking areas along the quay. The first, situated towards the end of the harbour on the left has 17 parking bays. The second larger car park is situated next to the beach area and is a small walk from the castle grounds and pier. There is a wide ramp from the car park down to the sandy beach. The third parking area is available along the pier of St Patrick's Isle. There is a toilet block located on the pier. There are no designated disability parking bays in any of the car parks.  

If you choose to park in one of the first two car parks then access to the castle and pier are across a causeway, there are no pavements available. Access to the castle is up steps and the ground is uneven.  

Extra care should be taken during adverse weather conditions and high winds.


Brief Description:


Peel West Quay was constructed in 1881-1882. St Patrick's Isle is a small island situated just off the coast that is accessed via a short causeway that was built in 1884. It houses a large 11th century castle built by the Vikings. There is also a lighthouse situated at the head of the pier.

Directions:


Situated in Peel, approximately 10 miles North West of Douglas.

Exit Douglas on the A1 and follow to Peel. As you enter Peel you will pass the Peel A.F.C on your left, continue on the the crossroads and turn left. Continue to the roundabout and take the second exit turning right on to Queens Drive. continue to the end of the road then turn right on to A27. Take the first left on to Station Road. Take the first left on to Mill Road. Continue around the harbour until you reach your destination.
