Accessibility:
Level car park at the top of the pass, free of charge with an ice cream van at busy tourist periods. Pensychnant House is signposted with a green notice board and it is down a level half-mile track which is drivable for vehicles. There is a slope from the car park up to the house but disabled motorists can park by the garden entrance, and the garden is level with the seating and tables for visitors. The rest of the garden is woodland which has slopes. The house itself has steps to its main entrance hall and level access into the main sitting room area, which has many comfortable chairs, and tea/coffee making facilities. However access to the other rooms on the ground floor all have steps, including the toilet which is not suitable for wheelchair users. There is a former billiard room on the first floor which can only be accessed by a wooden staircase.


Brief Description:
The Sychnant Pass is an area of rugged scenery, and a variety of habitats, Pensychnant House is an unusual arts and crafts house built in the 1880s in an idyllic setting, and has a low admission charge.

Opening Hours:
House and Exhibition open: Wednesday – Sunday (and Bank Holidays), April – September, 11am to 5pm
Nature Reserve open: Wednesday – Sunday (and Bank Holidays),  All Year (except Christmas and New Year, 9am to 6pm (or dusk).


Directions:
The Sychnant Pass and  Pensychnant House are situated midway, and two miles from Penmaenmawr – Chief Big Stone and Conwy, by narrow minor roads. The one from Penmaenmawr involves a steep incline up to the pass, where there is a level car park with no parking charges. The nature reserve extends to both sides of the road. Penmaenmawr and Conwy are both situated off A55 express-way.

Amenities:
At the pass car park, an ice cream van can be found on busy tourist days and on Sundays. There are toilets (but not accessible toilets) at Pensychnant House which has a low admission charge, and tea/coffee making facilities at reasonable prices. Visitors needing places to eat and drink, and places to stay can find them in both Penmaenmawr and Conwy.
