Accessibility:

Steep slope leading into the castle. Despite this, within the castle itself there are flat roads and a special entrance for wheelchair users. While there are bumpy cobblestone paths in areas of the castle, many of them have alternate roads which are safer for wheelchair users to move across. Accessible toilets are available. There is no access to the upper floor of the castle for wheelchair users.

Signs are available in Braille, but there is no audio tour available for those with poor eyesight. Assistance dogs are welcome, and a dog bowl with water is available on request.

There is an induction loop available in the gift shop.

Two disability parking spaces are on-site, please call in order to reserve them.


Brief Description:

Originally built not long after the Norman conquest of 1066 and surviving two sieges during the 1170s, Prudhoe Castle offers a look into the 11th and 12th centuries and how the castle was built to stand.

There is a bus stop less than 150 metres from the castle.

The nearest train station is Prudhoe Station, only 0.3 miles from the castle. No vehicle should be necessary for travelling to the castle from the train station.

There is a gift shop available selling souvenirs, as well as a shop offering light refreshments, including , hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice cream.
