Brief description
https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/richborough-roman-fort-and-amphitheatre/
"Richborough Roman Fort witnessed the very beginning, the heyday and the end of Roman rule in Britain. An array of fresh features helps you explore and understand this wonderful site.
The invading Roman army first came ashore here in AD 43, building a fortress to defend their bridgehead. A timber Roman gateway has been meticulously recreated on its exact spot. Climb it for panoramic views over the whole site and the Kent countryside.
A revamped museum, featuring finds from recent excavations, traces the 360-year story of Richborough and its people. Take the audio tour to be guided around the site by historians, follow the family trail and see the earthworks of Richborough’s amphitheatre.
Richborough Roman Fort has been awarded a Silver Green Impact Award"
